Fayne's Diary 21: Transition
I spent an idle week, shadowing Ambriel and spending time with Delilah. Ambriel presented a puzzle. How did she know so much about Amber if she had been locked away in Rebma? Delilah presented another puzzle, how were we going to treat each other now that things had changed. The puzzle of Ambriel was solved at lunch one day. Apparently, Caine was trapped in Rebma also. The puzzle of Delilah is taking time. She just seems bemused by my confusion. However, this was a happy conundrum, and I was sure that eventually things would sort themselves out.
I should have known the day was going to be a little crazy when I got into a philosophical debate with Cordelia. She was looking cute, and her fighting was improving. She seemed very pleased when I complimented her on a particularly hard punch she had thrown. She was an apt pupil, and would have made a good member of the Family I think. She smiled, quite pleased with herself. I knew that I had left my share of cuts, bruises and scrapes on her, during our sessions. I was amused at the way Tevis glowered at me, when Cordelia wasn't looking. As her bodyguard, I would have thought that he would have been pleased with her lessons.
We took a breather and she started talking about her past again. I think she would be horrified to know that our experiences are a little more similar than she would like. As she talked about her confusion and dwelled on the past, I became frustrated with her. So much was happening in the here and now. She had almost lost her life, and almost seen her father die and the past was the past. I finally shook my head and tried to explain my thoughts. Told her to pay attention to what was happening now, so that life didn't catch her unawares again. We talked for some time about this issue, but she didn't understand, so we parted ways.
That's when the day really became strange. When I saw Mythos again, she was wearing a ring with the captured spirit of Brand. I believed it was him, he knew about Donica. That was not something I had shared with anybody. What was more disturbing was that he said the Queen was actually Fiona and that we had to kill her. I did believe him. I also didn't like the look in Mythos' eyes, a sort of plee and maniacal gleam at the same time. "Now we can kill her".
The question remained, but how.
