Suhuy was surprisingly unhelpful. The odd part is he claimed that he'd never met Edward. But I had the impression that Edward believed otherwise. Which means either Suhuy was lying, Edward was lying, the individual Edward met was not Suhuy, or the person I talked to was not Suhuy. I don't like any of these possibilities. He suggested I talk to a Trump artist. Easier said then done. I suppose I could talk to Bickford. But, even assuming I managed to pull this off without getting cornered for my Spikard, I'm not quite sure how I'd explain the problem. I mean, why should Bickford care if one of Amber's Trump artist is missing? Especially Dworkin's son? Bickford would think I'm nuts. And he'd probably be right. I've taken this as far as I can on my own. If no one else is interested in finding Edward, then I'm afraid I'll have to put my efforts on hold. At least until I get a better idea of how to proceed. Since I seem to have some time on my hands, I'm going to continue my sorcerous studies. Even Suhuy is telling me to tone down the Spikard. If I knew how, trust me, I would. Maybe with a little more study, I can figure it out. Raphael paid me a visit. The man is as arrogant as ever. He wants to form an alliance. I don't even think he's sure what for. He has no idea how to find Edward, but he suggested finding some of the other missing Amberites. Like Bleys. Apparently when he Trumped Bleys, Bleys reached out a bloody and asked for help. When Raphael tried to pull Bleys through, he wound up in this strange, distorted shadow. No sign of Bleys. Then he found himself in Arden. I checked him out, just to make sure it was him. As far as I can tell, he's not a shapeshifter, nor does he have any magical items, so it probably is. Of interest is the fact that he has a fairly small mind, although his speed is phenomenal. Almost beyond belief. Well, what can you expect from one of Corwin's children? Maybe the spell I set up for Edward would have better luck with Bleys. I'll certainly give it a try. Raphael's other idea? Take the throne. I'm not making this up. I wish I knew if he was serious. I doubt he could pull it off on his own. Maybe he's putting together a cabal. What is the attraction for these Amberites of holding the throne? Raphael's only been here for a week or so, and already he wants it. After watching Marcus deal with being Regent, you couldn't pay me enough to take that job. Too much work, not enough fun. Not that I've been having much fun lately, anyway. I wonder why he thought I'd be interested in helping him? He didn't offer me anything in return for my assistance. And it's not something I'd do for free. Not that I'd help him anyway, unless I was convinced he could keep the throne once he had it. And right now that seems pretty unlikely. I wish I could go home.
